Here in Australia, there's been an illustration competition to design three characters for a book called the 'Monster Maintenance Manual'

There's just something about seeing the strokes of a pencil against the relief of the paper, something about the smell of cedarwood and colourstrip, something about getting smudges of colour on your fingers, ...something I love about traditional media.

Have you heard anything back? I think it was June 1st when we were supposed to find out-I definitely don't expect to be a finalist but I am curious to find out who is!

I haven't heard anything yet. They said June 1st but I'm trying not to think about it because it makes me feel sick in the gut with nervousness. Of course I don't expect to be shortlisted. I think I'd sooner win the lotto. But it's been something nice to dream about for the last six weeks.
